A LEADING councillor has warned difficult decisions lie ahead in the quest for a new community stadium for York.
A progress report was delivered at yesterday’s City of York Council executive meeting by project manager Tim Atkins, who said a preferred option for its location – which would be a new home for York City FC and York City Knights – should be identified by the summer.
Coun Steve Galloway, executive member for city strategy, said: “It’s extremely unlikely £10 million will flutter down from the heavens and it means there will be some potentially difficult decisions to take for the council and possibly other partners.
“But the discussions we have had lead me to believe there will be options available which will deliver the stadium.”
