A 24-year-old man has been remanded in custody accused of murdering a Chinese man whose body was found in the canal near Burn, Selby, nearly a year ago.
Shaozhe Wang, of Dong Bei, China, is the third man to be charged with killing Chen Cai Guan, 38, who came from Fujian, in China. He is alleged to have murdered Mr Chen at Elvington Industrial Estate between January 15 and January 18 last year jointly with Zhouli Zhang, 49, also of Dong Bei, China, and Bao Lung Huang, 44, of Fujian, China.
York magistrates sent Wang to Leeds Crown Court when he appeared before them for a brief hearing during which he spoke through a Mandarin interpreter to confirm his name, address and age.
His solicitor Lee-Anne Robins-Hick did not apply for bail and Wang was remanded until Friday when he will appear before a senior crown court judge.
Zhang and Huang were charged with the murder in December and remanded in custody to Leeds Crown Court, where they are expected to stand trial later this year.
