YORK City goalkeeper Russ Howarth may struggle to make the bench for the England Under-21 team tonight as David Platt's side tackle Macedonia in a Euro U21 2004 qualifier.
After missing Friday's 4-0 win in Slovakia with a neck injury, Liverpool shot-stopper Chris Kirkland has been recalled to the starting line-up for the clash at Reading's Madejski Stadium.
Although manager Platt has still to name his substitutes, Wolves' Matt Murray is likely to claim the reserve goalkeeper spot after filling in for Kirkland in Slovakia.
England U21s: Kirkland (Liverpool), Samuel (Aston Villa), Konchesky (Charlton), Carrick (West Ham), Bramble (Newcastle), Barry (c) (Aston Villa), Prutton (Nott'm For), Jenas (Newcastle), Jeffers (Arsenal), Ameobi (Newcastle), Cole (West Ham).
