ENGLAND Under-21s goalkeeper Russ Howarth has been added to York City's squad for tonight's Worthington Cup tie at Sheffield United, writes Tony Curtis.
The want-away net-minder only returned to the club yesterday after seeing moves to Wolves and Tottenham fall through, but he could find himself back on the bench for the Minstermen.
However, while Howarth is in the squad, a calf injury is almost certain to rule Jon Parkin out.
The defender-cum-striker, who has formed a highly-effective partnership alongside Peter Duffield and Lee Nogan up front, came off after just over half-hour in the 2-1 defeat by Bury.
Rogerio replaced Parkin at Gigg Lane, and is line for his first start tonight - although the boy from Brazil faces stiff competition from Alex Mathie and Levent Yalcin should Terry Dolan opt to stick with a three-pronged attack.
Dolan could tinker with the formation, with Sheffield-born defender Scott Jones also a possible contender to start to counteract the attacking threat of the Blades.
"I think we will have to look and see at their formation and team, but at this moment in time we've something in mind," said City's assistant-boss Adie Shaw.
