FORMER Tadcaster Grammar School pupil Matthew Kilgallon is on the verge of fresh international honours.
Kilgallon, in his second year of scholarship forms with Leeds United, has been selected for the England Under-18 squad that will take on Italy in Bellaria on March 20.
The 18-year-old, from Appleton Roebuck, has previously been capped by his country at under-15 and under-16 level.
Although still a trainee, Kilgallon, a centre-half, is a regular member of the Leeds United reserve team.
He has already been guaranteed a one year professional deal when his three-year scholarship ends.
The match against Italy is the first stage in England U18s' preparations for the Under-19s' European Championships in 2003.
Kilgallon was in action for United in the FA Premiership Reserve North League at Sheffield Wednesday last night.
The reserves won 1-0 courtesy of a Shane Candsell-Sheriff strike.
