ENGLAND is calling for another batch of young York City stars of the future.
Three boys from last season's under-15s squad have been selected for English School trials with one picked by the Football Association for trials with the full England Under-15 squad.
The three youngsters are right-sided player Graeme Law, who hails from Copmanthorpe, York, and centre-half Chris Hogg and central midfielder Lerent Yalcin, both from Middlesbrough.
All three have been called-up to the 16-man North East schools squad that will compete against other regional teams at Keele University, Staffordshire, next month.
The week-long tournament will serve as a trial for the English Schools team.
Hogg has also been selected for trials for the full England U15 squad, which will be held at Lilleshall at the end of August.
Former Tadcaster Grammar School pupil Matthew Kilgallon is also celebrating another international call to arms.
The Leeds United youngster, in the first year of a three-year scholarship at Elland Road, has earned his first-call up to the England Under-16 squad.
Kilgallon, who was capped four times for England Under-15s, will play in the Nordic Tournament in the Faroe Islands against his counterparts from Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Scotland, Norway and the host nation.
The youngster will be hoping to impress the England coaching staff enough to earn a place in the squad that will compete in the Under-16 European Championships next year.
The City contingent follow a growing line of youngsters who have come up through the youth ranks at Bootham Crescent to earn international call-ups.
Pick of the bunch was Richard Cresswell, who came through City's youth programme and went on to play for England Under-21s before his £1million transfer to Sheffield Wednesday last season.
Goalkeeper Russ Howarth has been capped by England at both Under-16 and Under-17 level, second-year youth trainee Leigh Wood was selected for England schoolboy trials at 14, while first-teamer Christian Fox was a member of the England Under-16 squad.
Third-year trainee Chris Marshall missed out on a call-up after also attending the same trials as Fox.
Fox's selection in November 1997 was the first at the club since Steve Tutill's England Schoolboy appearances in the mid-1980s.
