York City supporters have been asked to honour one of the club's former greats by putting their name forward for immortality.
The KitKat Crescent club are looking for an appropriate title for the newly-refurbished Bootham Lounge and have asked Evening Press readers to select which past player they feel the modernised suite should be named after.
That player will then also be honoured in a similar way when the club move to a new stadium.
We are now looking for City fans to send in their nominations for the honour, along with a reason for their choice, and the person who offers the best suggestion will be rewarded with a special prize.
Our lucky winner - and a guest - will officially open the newly-named lounge, along with their chosen player or his family, and receive two VIP tickets for the match on that day.
The idea will represent only the second time a player has been honoured in this manner following the decision to rename the Shipton Street End after striker David Longhurst, who tragically suffered a fatal heart attack on the pitch at Bootham Crescent.
It, therefore, presents a unique opportunity for all Minstermen fans to argue why their favourite player should be chosen.
City communications and community director Sophie McGill said: "We expect it may be named after a great player from the past but, instead of the club deciding, we would like our fans to have the opportunity to say who should be remembered in this way.
"Our supporters' group, the York Minstermen, have kindly agreed to donate the signage for the newly-named suite and we are committed to taking the new name to our future stadium to ensure the memory of the player chosen lives on."
The lounge has been refitted with furniture from Ikea and B&Q and decorated with black-and-white York City photographic canvasses, donated free of charge by Emma Mingay from Dilemma Artworks.
Mingay - the company's creative director - took the atmospheric pictures at City's Wigginton Road training ground and has worked from a design studio in York for the last three-and-a-half years.
Dilemma also have a large store in the McArthur Glen Outlet at Fulford and offer a wide range of contemporary canvas art for the home or office.
About her work on City's new-look hospitality suite, Mingay said: "It has been a pleasure to create a unique artwork scheme which reflects the essence and modernity of football, combined with the values of York City as a football club. As a York-based design company it has been great to be involved with York City's contemporary concept."
Aside from matchday hospitality, it is also intended that the suite will provide an excellent setting for business and private functions, such as boardroom meetings, training sessions or birthday parties.
The suite will accommodate up to 35 people and has its own bar, kitchen and toilet facilities.
On-site car parking is also provided and it can be used during the week or hired out on a matchday to entertain clients, staff, friends or family.
Hiring the room will cost just £50 for half a day or £100 for a full day plus VAT. For more information or to book a viewing, call City's commercial manager Elliot Stroud on 08707 771922.
All naming suggestions for the lounge should be sent, along with a daytime telephone number, to Bootham Lounge competition, Sports Desk, Evening Press, 76-86 Walmgate, York, YO1 9YN.
