FOOTBALL supporters made a spectacle of themselves over the weekend as they watched the first football match to be broadcast in 3D in York.

The match, between Manchester United and Chelsea, was shown in 3D in The Ainsty pub in Boroughbridge Road and The Terrace, on the corner of Fossgate and Stonebow.

Dave Hyde, manager of The Ainsty, said the pub was packed for the match.

He said: “It was amazing, we were rammed.

“If you expected the ball to come out of the screen every few seconds you would be disappointed, but the close up images were amazing, you felt like you were there and when the cameras panned over the crowd it felt like you were in the stadium in your own private box. It was brilliant.”
