A YORK street was hit by flooding after a water main burst.
Pedestrians and motorists encountered massive puddles as they made their way along Burdyke Avenue, in Clifton.
Engineers worked well into the evening to fix the leak after residents complained of flooding near the roundabout at the end of the road.
Peter Lawrence, a resident of nearby Wilberforce Avenue, said the problem had been going on for two weeks. He said: “There were massive puddles right across the road.”
A spokeswoman for Yorkshire Water said the leak was finally repaired at 10pm on Thursday.
She said: “A leak was reported on Thursday from a four-inch water pipe.
“It was not affecting any water supplies which is why it was not prioritised.”
She said that water supplies in the area were not disrupted by repair work.
