A TRIP of a lifetime aboard Mallard awaits the lucky winner of a competition run by one of York’s favourite visitor attractions.
The National Railway Museum (NRM) is giving one person the chance to ride on the footplate of Mallard as it is pulled to its new home at the NRM’s sister museum in Shildon, County Durham.
Mallard will be pulled to its new home by another engine, Tornado, on Wednesday, June 23, and all over-16s need to do be in with a chance of winning this trip, is visit the NRM and enter their details into a free prize draw to be drawn on Father’s Day, June 20.
Visitors to the museum can also watch engineers make final preparations to Mallard before its journey, on special workshop tours, available from Friday June 11. Tours begin at 3.30pm and 4.30pm.
