FIREFIGHTERS and police were called to the A64 after a van overturned on the eastbound carriageway heading towards York.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue appliance from Tadcaster was sent to the scene near Hazelwood at about 12.40pm today.
Police and fire service spokesmen confirmed nobody was seriously injured in the incident, and the road had not been closed.
However drivers are advised to avoid the road if possible, as heavy tailbacks have developed while the vehicle is recovered.
UPDATE: A spokesman from North Yorkshire Police said the traffic was flowing freely as of 2.15pm.
