DRUG dealers, thieves, thugs and dangerous drivers have felt the full force of the law thanks to a string of operations by police in Pocklington.

Police sent out a strict message that offenders will be caught and prosecuted as they continued to fight the crimes that affect the quality of life for residents.

Among the offenders caught in the last month was a man found growing cannabis and a teenage thief has been given a last chance warning following a number of offences.

Within the last month:

• Four men from Pocklington have been arrested for assault and violent disorder following an incident in the town on May 31. They are currently on police bail pending inquiries.

• Two men, both from Leeds, have been charged with burglary and a high value vehicle was recovered following two offences committed in Stamford Bridge earlier this year.

• A 33-year-old man from Stamford Bridge has received a caution for cultivating cannabis.

• A 43-year-old man from Pocklington has been charged with drink driving.

• A 20-year-old man from East Cottingwith has been arrested for theft of wheel trims from an unattended motor vehicle in Pocklington earlier this year.

• A 21-year-old Pocklington man was arrested for Section 5 Public Order Act following an incident on Browning Road in the town in June.

• A 13-year-old boy has received a final warning in relation to the theft of a cash box in Pocklington.

Pocklington Neighbourhood Policing team commander Inspector Mick Bower and his team have now drawn up a list of their top priorities over the coming months.

They say under-age drinking has been cause for a problem and they will be stepping up patrols in the area.
