A 50-YEAR-OLD man was taken to hospital after being attacked in a York alleyway.
The assault happened in Acomb at about 9.15pm on Thursday – shortly after another man was attacked in the South Bank area, triggering a police appeal for witnesses.
Two men attacked the 50-year-old in an alleyway off Jamieson Terrace, Acomb, demanding money. He fought back by kicking and shouting at the suspects, before the attackers ran off empty-handed towards Campleshon Road and Knavesmire Primary School playground.
The victim suffered serious facial injuries, including a suspected fractured cheekbone, and received hospital treatment.
Detective Constable Matt Dodson, of York CID, said: “This attack has left the victim with serious facial injuries and very shaken up. He bravely fought off his attackers, but suffered a great deal.”
The men were white, aged between 19 and 23. One was medium build, about 5ft 8in and wearing a black hoodie, black jogging trousers and black trainers.
The second was about 5ft 10in and slim. He was wearing a black top, jogging trousers and trainers.
The earlier attack happened near Ladbrokes in Green Lane, at about 6.50pm, when two men with Liverpool accents approached the victim, 28. They punched him and stole his phone and cash.
