GREAT-GRANDMOTHER Frances Jackson was today celebrating her 100th birthday at a North Yorkshire residential home.
Mrs Jackson enjoyed a party with members of her family and fellow residents at St John’s Residential Home, Kirk Hammerton, with a singer entertaining guests. Her family said she was born in Plymouth and lived in several places including Brixham, Saltburn, John O’Groats and Hornsea before marrying her husband, Bert, in 1936 in Hornsea.
She moved again to Bletchley and Cayton before arriving at St John’s in 2000. She managed a store/post office in John O’Groats, and was a cashier for Marks & Spencer and the Co-operative Society.
Mrs Jackson has a daughter Pat, a grandson Chris and two great-grandchildren, David and Faith.
