SHERBURN-in-Elmet has had a taste of Brazil this week, thanks to a Rotary Club-inspired exchange trip.
The Rotary Club has been playing host to five Brazilians who have come over to Yorkshire for a month as part of an international exchange trip.
The five, all professionals, have been staying with families throughout Yorkshire.
One, television journalist Thays Beleze, has been staying with a Sherburn-in-Elmet family since last week.
So far she has spent time with BBC television in Leeds, BBC Radio in Scarborough and with The Press, to experience how the British media operates.
Thays, 33, who is from Curitiba in southern Brazil, said: “The idea of the exchange is obviously to improve our English as the language is very important to us, but also to understand how other people in our profession work.”
The other members of the Brazilian group include a judge, a civil servant, a lawyer and a financial manager.
Thays said that from what she had seen so far, the British media used far more political stories than its Brazilian counterparts.
