RESIDENTS in Tadcaster looking for information and advice on local services are being reminded that a council customer services have changed.
As part of Selby District Council’s work to reduce expenditure, the authority’s Westgate office has closed.
Information and advice is now available from North Yorkshire County Council staff at the town’s library in Station Road – five minutes’ walk from the previous address.
Coun Mark Crane, leader of the council, said: “We need to examine all our services and ensure that we deliver them in a cost-effective way as we look to reduce our expenditure following central Government’s Comprehensive Spending Review. By teaming up with the county council’s library services in Tadcaster it means that the people of the town will still be able to access face-to-face information about our services if and when they need it.
“There are many different ways in which people can contact the council; it won’t just be through the library, you can phone or use the internet too. Our aim is to make sure you can get the information you need, when you need it, in ways that are easy to use.”
Residents can phone the council on 01757 705101 between 8.30am and 5pm during the week (10am start on Wednesday and 4.30pm finish on Friday).
