THERE’S a chance to find out how to get more out of life online next week during a day of activities at Explore York Library Learning Centre, pictured, in Museum Street.

Next Tuesday’s events start between 10am and noon, when the emphasis will be on ideas for children’s reading, writing and fun online from the children’s librarian. At the same time, there will be inspiration on what to read next from the reader development librarian, and advice about social media, including Facebook and Twitter.

From 2pm to 4pm, the focus will be on ebooks and audio books, with help on how to download virtual material.

There will also be a free draw during the day, with a Sony eReader as the prize.

Later, from 6pm to 8pm, visitors will be able to dig up their roots, and get their family history queries answered by the local history librarian.

There will also be a session looking at how to get the most out of your Apple Mac, with tips from the centre’s Mac experts.

The sessions will all be on a drop-in basis, with no need to book. Staff will be on hand all day to answer computer questions and give ideas on how to find out more. For details, go to www.york.gov.uk/libraries or phone 01904 552817.
