THE owner of a rottweiler dog, which was left tied to the gates of the RSPCA animal home in Landing Lane, York, by a mystery couple, has been traced by staff.
Centre manager Tony Benham thanked the public for contacting the animal home to identify the owner after the story appeared in The Press earlier this month.
He said: “He (the owner) was invited to come down and sign the dog over and hand over its medical history.”
The dog has now been named as Duke, a ten-year-old who suffers from arthritis and requires regular pain treatment.
The home is now looking for a responsible and experienced rottweiler owner to give Duke a home.
If you can help, phone the centre on 01904 654949.
