VOLUNTEERS are needed to help clean up a walking and cycling route.
Members of the sustainable transport charity Sustrans will meet at the former Naburn station, and tidy up the York to Selby cycle path, Route 65. The event runs between 10am and 12.30pm on Saturday, and will involve litter picking and cutting back overgrown branches.
Dave Stevens, volunteer co-ordinator, said: ‘This is the last chance to safely cut back trees and hedges before the nesting season, so it will be great to have the help of local people. Route 65 is just part of the 13,000-mile National Cycle Network across the UK and the only way such a vast network is able to grow and be looked after is thanks to the help of volunteers taking part in work days like this one.”
