A passenger was taken to hospital after part of a tree fell on a train in high winds in North Yorkshire.
The accident happened near Knaresborough Station and was one of a number of weather-related incidents across the county.
A British Transport Police spokesman said it caused one of the windows to smash on a Northern Rail York to Leeds service. Three passengers were injured in the incident, with one being taken to hospital with minor scratches to their face.
Accident investigators were told about the incident, and commuters were taken to the next station before leaving on alternative transport.
Elsewhere, a Mercedes sprinter van was blown over on the northbound carriageway of the A1 just before 2pm, two miles south of Dishforth, as winds reached 52mph. The two occupants were uninjured.
An HGV was also blown over on the southbound carriageway just south of the Boroughbridge junction, but the driver escaped unhurt, while another van lost its roof.
At about 3pm, a branch of a tree fell on to two cars in Broadway in Fulford, York, causing damage to the vehicles.
A fence was blown over in Drax near Selby, allowing sheep to escape from a field.
At about noon a large tree was blown down on Firs Avenue in Ripon, damaging parked vehicles.
No one was injured but other traffic was diverted.
Fallen trees and branches were also reported near Busby Stoop, Thirsk, on the A61 in Harrogate, between Farnham and Lingerfield near Boroughbridge, and on the A59 at Flaxley.
In West Yorkshire, a male pedestrian was killed and a female pedestrian injured after a lorry overturned in high winds in Neville Street, Leeds. The cause of the accident was not yet known.
Police said a person had been seriously injured in an accident on the A1 near Pontefract, when a lorry blew over and four cars collided with each other.
