MORE volunteers are being sought to help York beat the snow next winter.
City of York Council has launched a snow wardens scheme, to help keep side-streets clear, following the success of a similar scheme in Calgary, Canada.
The authority wants 50 volunteers, who will be given a shovel, high visibility coat, gloves and training.
One-tonne bags of salt will be put at their disposal in addition to the usual salt bins on the streets.
Volunteers should have access to a mobile phone or the internet so they can stay informed, To volunteer or find out more, phone Michal Czekajlo on 01904 551841.
