WHERE there’s a woolshop, there’s a way.
Delighted tourists gawped and clapped as Katey Walker, with the help of a real shepherdess, Cluny Chapman, steered a small herd of sheep along Shambles in York.
It was Katey’s way of celebrating the first anniversary since she launched her wool shop, Ram Shambles, in the ancient street.
At first the Shetland sheep were on show in a pen, but then the two women released them, leading the two ewes, with four untethered lambs following closely behind.
The sheep were all from a Seaton Ross farm, owned by Highfield Textiles which sells knitting wool to Ram Shambles.
Katey said: “We counted them out and we counted them in, although a nearby butcher was eyeing them closely and if he later has a special offer on lamb sausages I’ll want a recount!”
