CARNIVAL fever will grip York this weekend.
The theme for this year’s York Carnival will be space, with the city centre being transformed as an array of acts perform on its main stage in Parliament Street.
The event includes performance workshops, food and drink stalls and a children’s play area, with residents parading from the Minster Gardens today dressed as intergalactic characters.
Meanwhile, York Youth Council has organised a Vintage Showcase at the carnival at 10.30am, 2.30pm and 4.30pm today as part of its campaign to challenge negative images of young people.
Music, dancing and acting will tell the tale of fashion through the decades with the aid of a Dr Who character.
