A WOMAN was rescued from the sea after she fell overboard from a ferry 20 miles off the North Yorkshire coast last night.
Humber Coastguard rescued the woman, who is believed to be from Hertfordshire, from the sea at about 8.50pm, after she fell from the Princess Seaways, a passenger ferry on its way from Newcastle to the Netherlands.
Scarborough’s all-weather RNLI lifeboat was launched, but returned to its station after an RAF search and rescue helicopter lifted the woman from the sea and took her to Scarborough hospital, where she was checked for hypothermia and ingestion of sea water.
