A RAZOR-SHARP eye for an image has seen an award- winning Press photographer claim the highest accolade of his career.
Anthony Chappel-Ross was named Regional Photographer Of The Year at the UK Picture Editors’ Guild Awards 2011 in London, regarded as the UK’s premier celebration of press photography.
His portfolio included a snowball fight between members of the Royal Dragoon Guards on Knavesmire, the English Defence League march in Bradford and the Illuminating York event.
Judges praised Anthony’s work, saying: “It was portfolio which was well-constructed, with a diversity of subjects, and Anthony has a great eye for that offbeat angle.”
Anthony, 28, has already won the Newspaper Society Young Photographer of the Year twice and been named O2 Photographer Of The Year for Yorkshire during his eight years at The Press. He said: “I was just delighted to be nominated alongside three brilliant photographers, so to win has left me absolutely speechless.”
