THE Archbishop of York has consecrated two new bishops at York Minster.
Dr John Sentamu ordained the Very Rev Justin Welby as Bishop of Durham, and the Ven Robert John Freeman, as Bishop of Penrith, at the Minster yesterday morning.
Bishop Welby, who has five children with his wife, Caroline, studied law and history at Cambridge before spending 11 years in the oil industry working in Paris and London.
In 2002 he became Canon of Coventry Cathedral and saw the congregation grow from about 250 to about 450.
Bishop Freeman, who is married to Chris, with three daughters and a granddaughter, has an enthusiasm for helping people outside the church explore and discover Christian faith, reflected in his involvement with the web sites rejesus.co.uk and Christianity.org
