A WOMAN has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in the back in a attack on the outskirts of York.

Marina Marchi, 50, of Florida Keys, Hull Road, Wilberfoss, York, appeared before York Magistrates on Saturday morning.

She was charged with stabbing a woman with a kitchen knife at Manor Park Lodges, in Sheriff Hutton Road, Strensall, at about 2.50pm on Wednesday.

Marchi was arrested by officers at the scene after a witness to the alleged attack raised the alarm.

The victim suffered cuts to her forehead and knife wounds to her back in the incident. Police said the victim, who has since been released from York Hospital, was not seriously injured.

Marchi, who also faced drink-drive charges, spoke only to confirm her personal details when she appeared before magistrates.

Dressed in a blue jumper, the 50-year-old, who had a black eye, bowed her head as the two charges were read out.

She was allegedly more than four times the legal drink drive limit when she reportedly drove to the address in Sheriff Hutton Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Marchi was remanded in custody.

Her daughter and other members of Marchi’s family wept as she was led from the courtroom.

She will next appear before York Crown Court on Friday.
