A WHEELCHAIR user has successfully completed a skydive to raise money for charity.
Ian Wood suffers from Mitochondria Disease, which affects 10,000 people in the UK. The condition has left him visually impaired and he struggles with fatigue.
He originally intended to complete the jump in March, but had to postpone due to bad weather.
He said: “Over the last year, I have started doing bits of stand up comedy, or sit up as I call it, and have started doing fundraising for Mitochondria research. This is where the sky dive came in.”
Ian, a trustee of the York Blind and Partially Sighted Society, said: “I was a bit nervous before, and thought ‘what am I doing’, when I was in the plane, but as soon as I got down, I wanted to go up again.”
He has raised £700 through online donations to justgiving.com/skydive/ian-wood but donations can still be made, with all funds going towards research into mitochondria disease.
