THE grand finale of the 2012 Oxjam York event will be held at seven venues across the city next week.

Oxjam is Oxfam’s month-long music festival organised by volunteers and raising money to save lives around the world.

The TakeOver Music Festival is York’s closing event – a 13-hour event which will take place next Saturday with a variety of live music events open to all.

An acoustic set featuring Kirby Howarth, The Last Picture Show, The Y Street Band and The Glass Caves, will take place in Samson’s Square between 1pm and 6pm, while the Vudu Lounge will have nine hours of live Reggae DJ sets from Irie Vibes, Yorkshire Tea Party Antho Close, SBK, Just Jess, Rory Hoy and Leuce Rhythms from 3pm.

Artists including Rachel Skelton, Tim Pheby, Lake Michigan, Pete Wise and Manouchiae will perform acoustic and folk music at The Yorkshire Terrier between 7pm and 11pm, and The Attic will have two floors of funk, soul and jazz between 4pm and 11pm, with performances by Helen Turner, King Courgette, Union Central, Montego Bay, Black Lit City, Epilogues, Young Believers, Karl Senior, Rat Cathers Mallets, Gaz Rowntree and The Silent Sea, Bush & McCluskey and Kymberley Kennedy.

In The Basement, at City Screen, DJ sets will be performed from 8pm, and broadcast live to the nation on SUBfm.

At Victor J’s in Finkle Street, Holly Taymar, Dan Webster, Aimie J Ryan, Mark Wynn, Sing Ramona Sing, Zak Ford and David Ward Maclean will perform blues, folk and acoustic music from 4pm until midnight, while Dusk, in New Street, will host 10 hours of reggae, electro and house from 4pm.

The event starts at 1pm, and tickets cost £5 in advance, or £7 on the door. One ticket gives visitors access to every venue, and are available at wegottickets.com/event/184185
