A NEW stall at York market is thought to be the first outlet in the city to offer the Turkish meat speciality, tantuni.

The stall, Tantunizade, is proving popular with shoppers, said stallholder Atila Ceyhan, who plays Turkish music all day at the stall. “It’s offering something different.”

Tantuni is made with sliced and finely chopped meat, fried with parsley, tomato and onion in a special pan, and served in a wrap.

Market manager Darren Lovatt said the stall was just the latest example of diversification in the market, with the aim being to sell more unusual products in addition to traditional items such as fruit and veg, and clothing.
