A NEW observatory shed is set to be built at the University of York, improving research facilities for staff, students and the public.
City of York Council has approved a planning application by the university to replace its old shed at its Heslington campus after it fell into disrepair.
The new one will allow for more research and also pave the way for more community events following a successful Astronomy Day in January.
It will also improve security for equipment after an attempted break-in earlier this year.
