YOUNG film fans are organising their own screenings, complete with popcorn, as part of a new club at Norton Primary School.
Pupils in Year Six have been reviewing films they have chosen as part of the film club set up with the help of teacher Clive Jeffrey.
Mr Jeffrey said schools were being encouraged to set up clubs through a Government-supported website.
“The children manage the club,” Mr Jeffrey said.
“They organise the publicity and ticketing and set up the classroom as a cinema for each showing. The intention is that they will choose the majority of the films while I will feed in a few more interesting and unusual ones.”
Following each showing, the children post reviews on the club website. “The number of pupils attending is increasing well and we may extend it to other year groups,” said Mr Jeffrey.
