FASHION students at York College have been inspired by oversized Laurel and Hardy-style suits from the York Theatre Royal costume hire department.
The First Year foundation degree students got the suits from the theatre’s costume sale in February, before costume hire moved to its new home in the De Grey Rooms in St Leonard’s Place.
Students worked with the full suit jacket, manipulating and pinning excess fabric on to a size 12 stand.
They then worked in groups to produce collections of garments targeted at a leading high street store.
The garments were shown at the college’s end-of-year fashion show at York Racecourse and are now on display for the public to view at the Theatre Royal to coincide with its production of Laurel And Hardy which ends today.
