YORK people are the most fashion conscious in the UK – visiting the shops more than 80 times a year to stock up their wardrobes.
Most Britons tend to select something off the hanger around the £36 mark. But York shoppers splurge an average of £96 per item, and come home with 83 new purchases every year.
The findings come from the TK Maxx Style Census, examining shopping habits and attitudes to style across Europe.
A spokesman said: “From a UK perspective, those living in York buy and spend the most on fashion – splashing out on an average of 83 new purchases a year and splurging an average of £96 per item, £60 higher than the average UK cost of £36.66 per item.”
