ORGANISERS of the Galtres Festival will find out on Monday if it has won a UK festival award, at a ceremony in London.
The eighth annual festival, which took place at Crayke over the August Bank Holiday weekend, was nominated for six national awards, and has been shortlisted for one.
The judges were particularly impressed by the Dragons and Knights theme this year, which included live jousting tournaments, a medieval village, a Knight School and Chinese dragon dance.
Festival director James Houston said: “This year's event was particularly spectacular, and I'm proud to have been part of an festival which so many people really enjoy."
As well as the family entertainments, the festival featured five music stages which featured 100 bands over the weekend, with headliners including Ash, The Buzzcocks, Billy Bragg, Adam Ant, Seth Lakeman and the Guillemots. Supports included Chris Helme.
