PLANS to build 18 new homes on the site of a former council depot in Ryedale have been withdrawn.
North Yorkshire County Council and the Fitzwilliam Trust Corporation submitted proposals to Ryedale District Council to redevelop the disused highways depot and the neighbouring Coronation Farm Yard in Old Malton, but the application has now been put on hold.
The two organisations signed an agreement which would see them sell the land to a housebuilder if outline planning permission is granted.
The buyer would draw up a more detailed scheme for the Westgate Lane site further down the line.
The proposals may be resubmitted, with the applicants saying two traditional farm buildings would become one four-bedroom and one five-bedroom house, with the other homes having either two or three bedrooms.
