MORE than 60 people attended the annual Special Olympics City of York open day at David Lloyd Leisure Centre in Hull Road.
New participants joined current Special Olympics athletes and their coaches in a range of sports including athletics, boccia, bowls, football, new age kurling and tennis.
Special Olympics City of York, who support children and adults with intellectual disabilities in fully participating in range of sports, are one of beneficiaries of the Lord Mayor’s Charity Fund this year and the Lord Mayor of York, Coun Keith Hyman, joined in some of the sessions. The committee of Special Olympics City of York are staging their fifth annual general meeting at Tang Hall Community Centre in Fifth Avenue on Monday, November 12, at 6.30pm. Anyone interested in supporting the charity is welcome to attend.
