Shepherds ‘D’ continue to lead division three in the Northern Powergrid York and District Table Tennis League after an 8-2 win over a depleted Bootham ‘E’.
But Mick Surtees lost his unbeaten record as Matt Ayres came from two games down to win 11-8 in the final game.
Steve Potter and Rob Farmery helped Holgate ‘C’ to a 9-1 win over Holgate ‘D’, with Bob Young on form as they followed up with a 7-3 win over Bootham ‘F’, who in turn bounced back with a 7-3 win over BT ‘B’. Ray Mitchell was unbeaten.
Martin Brown was the star man as University ‘B’ edged out BT ‘A’.
In division one, Mick Wilcockson ensured RI ‘A’ drew with Holgate ‘A’, while RI ‘B’ nosed out Bootham ‘A’.
Filip Wojtkowiak excelled and RI ‘B’ followed up by whitewashing University ‘A’, with the students also crashing 8-2 to RI ‘A’, for whom Nathan Horsley and Wilcockson were undefeated.
Paul Young and Chris Londsbrough guided Coneysthorpe ‘B’ to an 8-2 victory over Crescent ‘B’.
Martin Lowe led Coneysthorpe ‘A’ to an 8-2 win over Bootham ‘A’.
In division two, RI ‘D’ lost narrowly to RI ‘E’ but bounced back with a 7-3 win over Bootham ‘C’, Jonathan Chabry retaining his unbeaten record for the season.
Bootham ‘B’ beat Bootham ‘D’ 9-1 with Ady McClaren and Gareth Bryning undefeated.
But they lost a close battle with leaders RI ‘C’, who were grateful to Jeff Cohen in a decisive 8-2 win over Tramways.
Bottom side RI ‘F’ put up a good fight before losing 6-4 to a Stu Stevens-inspired Shepherds ‘B’.
The RI ‘E’ trio of Dave Jackson, Pat Swindell and Mark Blackburn thumped Shepherds ‘A’ 10-0.
