Buckstruther is napped to maintain his unbeaten record at Kelso today and further advertise the talents of Malton-based amateur rider Jamie Hamilton.

A 100-1 win on Tartan Snow over the Grand National fences in the Aintree Foxhunters’ Chase earlier this month was the highlight of this year for Hamilton, who has found his opportunities growing on the back of more and more winners, which included a Flat success at Doncaster last month for Richard Fahey on Yeomanoftheguard.

Hamilton knows Buckstruther well. Together the pair have rattled up a hat-trick of wins this season, two in point-to-points and the other in a hunter chase at Musselburgh.

Alastair Bell’s 11-year-old is now set to contest the Eildon Hill Stables Novices’ Hunters’ Chase on a course where he has been successful in the past.

John Quinn saddles Things Change in the opening Lyntoun Private Hire Maiden Hurdle and the five-year-old should take plenty of beating.

Things Change shaped with promise on his debut at Wetherby last month when finishing third to Discovery Bay, a winner again since, beaten by only a couple of lengths.

He looked green and raw on that occasion and should have learned plenty from the experience.

Phil Kirby, whose Stopped Out gained a valuable win at Sandown on Saturday, runs Picks Milan in the Peter & Gillian Allan Catering Handicap Hurdle.

A Carlisle winner on his second and latest outing, Picks Milan lacks the experience of his rivals in this handicap, but he has plenty of potential and is largely unexposed. The seven-year-old should go well under Richie McGrath.

Lucy Alexander, crowned champion conditional jockey on Saturday to become the first female ever to land the title, has good prospects aboard Or De Grugy in the Happy 80th Birthday John Rust Handicap Chase.

Also worth noting is Musselburgh winner Waltz Darling, fit from the flat, in the Isle Of Skye Blended Scotch Whisky Handicap Hurdle.

Tomorrow at Yarmouth, King Of Jazz is napped to win the Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance Handicap.

The Michael Bell-trained gelding finished a good third to Thunderball on his reappearance at Doncaster and ran even better when seventh, beaten by just over four lengths by the smart winner Move In Time on the same course next time, when he met trouble in running. He steps up another furlong, which may be in his favour.

Sir Michael Stoute’s Claim should be a popular choice in the Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park Handicap. A winner at Beverley on his second of three juvenile outings, Claim was beaten by only a length into fourth at Yarmouth on his concluding outing.

Sheriff Hutton trainer Tim Walford has a rare runner at Yarmouth with Medieval Bishop in the Conferences At Great Yarmouth Handicap. The gelding failed to win a race last year, but ran well in defeat on more than one occasion. It looks significant Walford has travelled him so far.
