YORK City will go into the Sky Bet League Two play-offs unbeaten in 17 games.
The Minstermen fought back from 2-0 down at promoted Scunthorpe to earn a draw thanks to Ryan Brobbel and Calvin Andrew goals.
Nigel Worthington's side will now host Fleetwood in the first match of a two-legged, semi-final at Bootham Crescent next Saturday, kick-off 7:30pm.
Scunthorpe forged ahead on 19 minutes when Madden headed past City keeper Nick Pope from four yards following Eddie Nolan’s left-wing cross.
Adam Reed, meanwhile, saw his eight-yard shot smothered by home shot-stopper Sam Slocombe at the other end.
The Iron then doubled their advantage on 38 minutes as Hawkridge sidestepped a John McCombe challenge before finding Pope’s bottom right-hand corner from ten yards with what looked like the aid of a deflection off Ben Davies.
But City reduced the deficit in first-half stoppage time when Brobbel received a short pass from Reed and then curled an excellent 20-yard effort into Slocombe’s top left-hand corner.
The Minstermen made a bright start to the second half with Lanre Oyebanjo dragging an edge-of-the-box effort wide.
Reed also shot wide following an untracked burst into the penalty box before Andrew levelled on 71 minutes, touching the ball in from close range after substitute Will Hayhurst a drilled a low cross into the six-yard box.
