TADCASTER Albion missed the chance to heap pressure on title favourites Shaw Lane as they went down 3-2 at Cleethorpes Town.
The defeat all but ended the Brewers’ outside chances of stealing the Northern Counties East League premier division title.
Paul Marshall’s men are in third place, five points behind Shaw Lane and four behind second- placed Worksop Town with only two games remaining.
Albion, knocked out of the League Cup by Cleethorpes last week, forged ahead after only eight minutes thanks to a penalty from Calum Ward after Danny Gray was fouled.
The home side hit back in the second half to go 3-1 in front with two goals from Louis Grant and one from Brody Robertson before Andy Milne pulled a goal back for Albion in the last minute.
Pickering Town took the lead thanks to a 30-yard strike by Lewis Taylor, but their season ended in a 3-1 defeat at Liversedge. Taylor netted on 25 minutes, but Liversedge levelled on 33 minutes through Andrew Wood.
The game was in the balance until the closing ten minutes, with Joel Farrar putting the home side in front on 84 minutes and then Wood grabbed his second with three minutes left on the clock.
In division one, Selby Town beat Grimsby Borough 1-0 at Flaxley Road thanks to Craig Muirhead’s 65th minute goal.
Knaresborough Town were 3-1 winners at Eccleshill United, scoring twice in the last five minutes to seal the points.
Colin Heath gave the visiting side a 17th-minute lead and, although Eccleshill levelled on 57 minutes, Town won it with late strikes by Will Lenehan and Hiliard Serrao.
Harrogate Town finished 16th in Conference North after ending the season with a 2-1 defeat at Stockport.
Paul Clayton put the visitors ahead in the sixth minute, but the home side levelled a minute before half-time and struck the winner with a minute remaining.
Former York City centre-back David McGurk was named Harrogate’s supporters player of the year.
Harrogate Railway Athletic claimed eighth place in the final Evo-Stik League division one north standings after a 3-0 win over Lancaster City at Station View.
Daniel Thirkell netted a 43rd minute penalty and Adam Baker added a second goal ten minutes into the second period, before Jordan Armstrong wrapped up the win with a second spot kick on 70 minutes.
Scarborough Athletic finished sixth following a 3-0 final day win at Kendal Town. All the goals came between the 54th minute and the 65th minute, with Tom Corner, Ben Middleton and Ryan Blott the marksmen.
