FRICKLEY Athletic striker Reece Thompson has signed a two-year deal with York City.

The 21-year-old forward has been bought for an undisclosed fee and a sell-on clause has also been inserted into the transfer with City having the option of extending his contract by a further 12 months in 2017.

Thompson, who scored a spectacular goal as a trialist for City during last week’s 2-1 friendly victory over Newcastle United, netted 16 times for Evo-Stik League Frickley in 32 appearances last term and has also played for Retford United and Lincoln City in the past.
