LINDON Meikle's disappointing spell with York City has come to an end after he left the club by mutual consent.
The ex-Mansfield winger failed to score in 32 outings for the Minstermen last season and has not made a matchday squad during the opening five fixtures of the current campaign.
He last started a match in November when City went down 3-1 in an FA Cup first round replay at AFC Wimbledon.
Meikle's last outing of any kind was at the same ground in March when his stoppage-time slip led to the hosts' winning goal in a 2-1 victory.
The 27-year-old attacker was signed from the Stags by former City manager Nigel Worthington last summer on a free transfer.
He was one of four players placed on the transfer list by current chief Russ Wilcox, however at the end of last season and follows former goalkeeper Jason Mooney out of the Bootham Crescent exit door.
Meikle is understood to be keen on a move back to a club in the Nottingham area.
