KENNY McEVOY has signed for York City until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old, who joined the Minstermen on a one month loan from Tottenham Hotspur in November, has now made his switch to Bootham Crescent permanent after leaving White Hart Lane at the start of the year.
The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has made four appearances for the club, impressing boss Jackie McNamara with his direct wing play.
After putting pen-to-paper on Tuesday afternoon, McEvoy revealed his delight at making the move and is looking forward to the continued challenge of competitive football with the Minstermen.
“I’m really happy that I can finally settle down and know that I don’t have to go back anywhere,” he said.
“I can concentrate on York City now and give my all for the team to help us up the league.
“It’s the real world and I am looking forward to seeing what I’m capable of in men’s football.
“I know I’m nowhere near the finished article yet though. I just need to keep working hard to improve every aspect of my game and then hopefully show what I can do by playing as many games as possible.”
Manager Jackie McNamara was thrilled at securing the services of the winger for the rest of the 2015/16 campaign and hopes he can flourish with the club.
“I’m really pleased that we’ve been able to complete a deal for Kenny on a permanent basis,” the 42-year-old said.
“During his time with us he’s already demonstrated what an exciting player can be with explosive bursts of pace and a direct style of play.
“I’ve been impressed with his desire to work and listen and hopefully now that his future is all sorted he can kick-on and help us climb the League Two table.”
