YORK City have signed Newcastle United defender Kyle Cameron on a youth loan.
The 18-year-old centre half, who can also play at left back, has recently completed a successful loan spell with Evo-Stik Northern League Premier Division side Workington AFC.
The 6ft 2in defender began his career with the Magpies at the age of nine, gradually progressing through the youth ranks before joining the Premier League outfit full time in the summer of 2013.
Cameron has continued to impress, helping United’s Under-18s to the FA Youth Cup Semi-Finals last season with his dominant displays from the heart of defence.
The Hexham-born youngster has also appeared for England at Under-16 and Under-17s level before switching allegiance to Scotland in 2014 as he represented them in the European Under-17 Championship finals in Malta.
A club spokesman said: "York City welcome Kyle to Bootham Crescent and look forward to his contribution whilst with the Minstermen."
