SIMON Heslop has been named as York City's new club captain.
The 29-year-old midfielder, who left Wrexham to join his home-town club this summer, will lead the team out for tomorrow's National League curtain raiser at Maidstone.
Defenders Jack Higgins and Matt Fry have been appointed vice-captains, with all three players having donned the armband during pre-season.
