FORMER Hartlepool United midfielder Phil Turnbull has become York City's sixth summer signing.
Turnbull, 20, was released by the Pool after spending last season on loan at UniBond League outfit Gateshead.
His arrival follows that of Onome Sodje, Paul Brayson, Stuart Elliott, Chris Beardsley and Mark Robinson since the end of last season.
Turnbull, born on New Year's Day in 1987, is the twin brother of Stephen, who is still on Hartlepool's books despite loan spells at Rochdale and Bury last season.
City's new signing made just one appearance with the Victoria Park club, during a 3-1 Football League Trophy victory over Rotherham last October.
Meanwhile, City's Blue Square rivals Oxford United have signed Airdrie striker Gary Twigg on a two-year contract. Former Derby trainee Twigg scored 11 goals last season but could not save Airdrie from relegation to the Scottish second division.
