SUPERSUB Michael Emmerson struck during a deluge to have York City reserves singing in the rain after beating Bradford City 2-1 last night.
Emmerson latched on to a long clearance from goalkeeper Josh Mimms to settle the duel played in a torrential downour at KitKat Crescent.
City started well taking a fourth-minute lead through Richard Brodie’s tap-in.
Bradford levelled ten minutes later through Bruce Dyer. Chances continued to be created, but City had the best, notably when a Simon Russell shot hit the crossbar.
Mimms, meanwhile, excelled when called upon and he had even more of an impact in setting up Emmerson for the winner.
Midfielder Steven Hogg played the last 20 minutes on his return from injury.
* City will play Newcastle side Walker Central in the FA Youth Cup third qualifying round on Tuesday, October 21 at KitKat Crescent (7.30pm).
Admission will be £4 for adults and £2 for concessions.
