MICHAEL Gash could miss out on a move to York City unless Ebbsfleet respond to the Bootham Crescent club’s £50,000 bid in the near future.

City have not heard from the Kent club since making their latest offer for Gash, who was part of the original £80,000 deal that would have brought both him and defender Darius Charles to North Yorkshire before his team-mate decided to pull out of the transfer.

Now, City boss Martin Foyle has indicated time is running out before the point arrives when he switches his attention to other targets.

He said: “We are waiting to hear whether Ebbsfleet will play ball and if they want to do business.

“I do have other people in mind but we will wait to see whether we hear anything over the next few days. We have also heard that he’s damaged his ankle ligaments running in the woods with Ebbsfleet so the deal might be put on ice for that reason as well.”

Foyle added that teenage striker Adam Boyes’ move to Scunthorpe, first revealed in The Press yesterday, is likely to be concluded over the weekend.

Added the City manager: “Talks are ongoing but there shouldn’t be any problems.”

Without Boyes, City would have three strikers on their books with last season’s 19-goal leading marksman Richard Brodie joined by new recruits Michael Rankine and Richard Pacquette.

Daniel McBreen, Craig Farrell and Onome Sodje have all left the club since the end of last season.
