Updated: GOAL hero Richard Brodie fired a sensational hat-trick to earn York City a 3-2 victory over Chester City in the Blue Square Premier.
The striking talisman took his tally for the season to 17 by netting his first treble for the Minstermen and also passing a half-century of goals for the club.
Having dramatically sent City into round two of the FA Cup with two goals in the 3-2 win over Crewe on Saturday, Brodie took a mere 32 seconds to get back on the scoresheet last night at Bootham Crescent.
Manager Martin Foyle said: “I am absolutely delighted for him. His first goal was fantastic and very similar to the one against Crewe on Saturday, when he didn’t panic.”
City conceded two goals in the second half and Foyle added: “We were wobbly for the last 15 minutes, but I have no complaints about the players because they have had a hard four days. There were some tired legs out there. Maybe I should have made one or two changes to the starting line-up to freshen things up. We can’t keep scoring three goals every game to win matches.”
City’s bench included former Yeovil and Bristol Rovers striker Kevin Gall, who has joined the club as a free agent after being released by Darlington last month.
Meanwhile, winger Craig Nelthorpe has joined Blue Square Premier rivals Barrow on loan until January 1.
Foyle said: “Kevin Gall has signed for us until January and gives us a bit extra because he can play in the front line or out wide, even though he is a bit rusty. Craig Nelthorpe has got the opportunity to play some games, which he has been craving.”
